Bay
Bay: A bay has a reddish brown body with a black mane and tail and black lower legs.
Dun
Dun: Varies from mouse colored to sandy colored with brown or black skin. Usually has a black mane,tail, and legs.
Brown
Brown: brown or black hairs over the body, black mane, tail, and legs. (usually)
Chestnut
Chestnut: a red-brown horse with similar mane and tail, usually lighter.
Palomino
Palomino: gold colored horse with a cream-white mane and tail. (Preferably called flaxen mane and tail)
Blue Roan
Blue roan: white hairs mixed with black hairs.
Red Roan
Red roan: white hairs mixed with bay hairs.
Strawberry Roan
Strawberry roan: white hairs mixed with chestnut hairs.
Grey
Gray: varies from white to dark gray can be plain, dappled, or fleabitten. Black skin always.
Spotted
Spotted: usually on the rump or spread over the whole body, brown or black spots, confined onto a "blanket" pattern.
Pinto
Pinto: large areas of brown or black on white. Also called paint. (brown patches on white is called skewbald and black on white is piebald)
Black
Black: black skin with black hairs on the body. Markings aloud.
